Sam’s Well Drilling had the privilege of being the geothermal subcontractor to Hometown Mechanical for the Iowa City Community School District’s new Liberty High School. Due to the large scope and complexity of work on this particular project, coordination and planning was key to its success. The entire team at Hometown exemplified professionalism throughout the project.

As the geothermal subcontractor, we were responsible for the installation of 82,000 active feet of pipe. The system runs beneath the location of the future sports complex and was designed to service the 263,000 sq. ft. building. We began having issues with ground conditions shortly after drilling began. We consulted with Hometown’s project manager and CAD specialist and the necessary changes were made to ensure installation would be successful.

The success of any project depends on the team that is assembled and the capability to communicate and work collaboratively towards the end goal. Hometown assembled a team of professionals and their contribution to our team made this project commendable. I would highly recommend Hometown Mechanical and welcome their contribution towards future projects.
